Oak Hill Farm is an accredited PATH International certified non-profit service organization dedicated to providing equine therapy to children and adults. The program provides riding instruction for individuals with and without challenges. We serve our local communities, schools, and organizations.
We work with children (and adults) who face physical, emotional, and/or social challenges. We help them to discover their own strengths and talents. Oak Hill Farm strives to make each ride a fun, yet therapeutic experience in a peaceful, relaxing setting. We celebrate the achievements of our riders every day!
Therapeutic riding is suitable for people with challenges, including autism, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, ADD, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, paralysis, amputation, down syndrome, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, post-traumatic brain injury, and more.
Therapeutic horseback riding is a special connection in which horses, challenged children (and adults), compassionate volunteers, and professional instructors and physical therapists join together to contribute positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of people with challenges. It affects the lives of everyone involved.
In addition to being around the horses, our students are also exposed to other aspects of farm life, which including ducks on the pond, our mascot cat, and our loving shelties.
Directions
Traveling west on US-24, be sure to be in the left (passing) lane at the stoplight in Roanoke. Turn left 0.1 mile after the stoplight onto East Station Road (at Lock No. 4 and Nick’s Junction). Go over the one-lane bridge, across the railroad tracks, and you’ll see the Farm at the top of the hill on your left. See map.
NOTE: When high water or construction closes East Station Road, you’ll need to take Lafayette Center Road (E 900 N) to Mayne Road to get to the Farm.
